Kemble's Life Cartoon

In his essay on "Illustrating Huck Finn," Kemble said it was a picture of his showing a boy being stung by a bee that had caught MT's eye, but that seems to be an error. In a letter to Charles Webster, written at the end of March, 1884, MT identified the man he wanted to illustrate Huck as the Life cartoonist who had recently done an illustration on "Some Uses of Electricity." That picture appeared in the magazine for 13 March 1884:
