The Simpsons in the Classroom

In Renee Hobbes' strangely and conveniently applicable essay, The Simpsons Meet Mark Twain: Analyzing Popular Media Texts in the Classroom, she discusses how she compares "The Simpsons" and Mark Twain as a way of letting her students gain a better appreciation of satire and humor in general.

Tim Cuprisin's "Bart Simpson's bringing his smart mouth to Sunday comics" is the source of all the Thompson quotes.

Jamie Angell's Explaining Groening - One on one with the sultan of fun, hosted on the massive Simpsons Archive, is an interesting interview with Matt Groening, the creator of "The Simpsons."

I am of course also indebted to Fox and "The Simpsons" for use of the images and video clips.
