It's not clear when or why Faulkner prepared this two-page manuscript chronology of major events: either while he was writing Absalom and for his own reference, or after he'd finished and for use by readers. It clearly provided the model for the "CHRONOLOGY" published as an appendix to the first (and all subsequent) editions of the book, though it differs in several respects from that text -- mostly notably in dating the novel's present in September and December, 1910, which given the fact that in the earlier published The Sound and the Fury Quentin committed suicide on June Second, 1910, is not possible.
