Available here are all 432 pages of the
American Publishing Company edition of The Tragedy of
Pudd'nhead Wilson and the Comedy of Those Extraordinary
Twins. The scans were made from a 1900 reprinting of the
first (1894) American edition. Reading or looking at the
novel this way allows you experience MT's text as
contemporary American readers did, with the hundreds of
"marginal illustrations" (see ILLUSTRATING
PUDD'NHEAD).
The copy we scanned came from the open stacks
of Alderman Library, so you will also see several dozen
marginal comments and underlinings made by an unknown reader
sometime between 1900 and 1997.
